 Updating your Aadhaar ID online using your phone is a straightforward process, but it requires a few key steps to ensure accuracy and security. Below is a detailed guide that covers everything you need to know:


Step 1: Gather Required Documents

Before you begin the process, ensure you have the following documents ready:


1. Current Aadhaar ID: The original Aadhaar card that you wish to update.

2. Proof of Identity (PoI): Documents like PAN card, passport, voter ID, driving license, or any other government-issued identity document.

3. Proof of Address (PoA): Documents like a bank statement, utility bill, rental agreement, or passport, to update your address.

4. Proof of Date of Birth (DoB): If updating your date of birth, documents like a birth certificate, passport, or SSLC book are required.


Step 2: Access the UIDAI Portal

1. Open the UIDAI Website:

  •     Open a web browser on your phone.
  •     Go to the official UIDAI website at [https://uidai.gov.in](https://uidai.gov.in).


2. Navigate to the Aadhaar Update Section:

  •     On the homepage, click on the "My Aadhaar" tab.
  •     Select "Update Your Aadhaar" from the dropdown menu.
  •     You will be directed to a page with options for various updates like name, address, date of birth, etc.


Step 3: Login with Your Aadhaar Details

1. Enter Your Aadhaar Number:

  •     Click on "Update Aadhaar Online" and enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.

   

2. Receive OTP:

  •     After entering your Aadhaar number, click on the "Send OTP" button.
  •     An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to your registered mobile number.


3. Enter OTP:

  •     Input the OTP in the designated field and click on "Login."
  •     You will now have access to your Aadhaar account for updates.


Step 4: Select the Details to Update

1. Choose the Field to Update:

  •     You will be presented with various options, such as Name, Date of Birth, Address, Gender, etc.
  •     Select the field you wish to update. For example, if you want to update your address, choose "Update Address."

   

2. Enter the New Information:

  •     Enter the correct information in the respective fields.
  •     Double-check the details for accuracy, as incorrect information may result in delays.


Step 5: Upload Supporting Documents

1. Scan and Upload Documents:

  •     Scan the necessary supporting documents using your phone's camera or a document scanner app.
  •     Upload the scanned copies to the portal in the appropriate section.


2. Supported File Formats:

  •     Ensure that the documents are in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format.
  •     The file size should be within the prescribed limits, typically not exceeding 2 MB.


Step 6: Review and Submit

1. Review Your Details:

  •     Carefully review the details you've entered, ensuring everything is correct.
  •     If you need to make any changes, do so before proceeding.


2. Submit the Update Request:

  •     Once satisfied with the information, click on the "Submit" button.
  •     A confirmation page will appear, showing your Update Request Number (URN).
  •     Save this URN for future reference, as it will be required to track the status of your update.


Step 7: Pay the Update Fee

1. Pay the Processing Fee:

  •     A nominal fee (usually around ₹50) is charged for updating details online.
  •     You can pay this fee using various online payment methods like debit/credit cards, net banking, or UPI.


2. Payment Confirmation:

  •     After successful payment, you will receive a confirmation receipt.
  •     Keep this receipt for your records.


Step 8: Track the Status of Your Update

1. Track Update Status:

  •     You can track the status of your update by returning to the UIDAI website.
  •     Navigate to the "Check Aadhaar Update Status" section under the "My Aadhaar" tab.
  •    - Enter your URN to see the current status of your request.


2. Status Updates:

  •     The status may show as "Under Process," "Completed," or "Rejected."
  •     If your request is rejected, the reason will be provided, and you may need to resubmit the update.


Step 9: Download Updated Aadhaar Card

1. Receive Update Confirmation:

  •     Once your update is processed, you will receive an SMS notification on your registered mobile number.
  •     This message will confirm the successful update of your Aadhaar details.


2. Download the Updated Aadhaar:

  •     You can download the updated Aadhaar card by visiting the "Download Aadhaar" section on the UIDAI website.
  •     Enter your Aadhaar number and the OTP received on your mobile.
  •     Download the e-Aadhaar in PDF format, which is password-protected (the password is usually a combination of the first four letters of your name in capital letters and your birth year).


3. Print Your Aadhaar Card:

  •     You can print the updated Aadhaar card from the downloaded PDF.
  •     It can be printed on plain paper or taken to a local service center for a PVC print.
